I have seen numerous parts that are listed incorrectly in that they say they will fit engine sizes that conflicts with my info but my interest has been in the 3 or 3-1/2 horsepower category of which numerous parts are only for that size. These sellers are busy guys and they want to move their stuff and good for them. So.they price them high, keep them listed until sold, but accept offers so make substantial but substantially lower offers and you'll do fine. Many of the parts are now being sold as Buy it Now or Offer and the sellers are just trying to get a decent price and not give their parts away if no competing bidders are looking during their auctions. My observations over the years point to me that the 2 to 2-3/4 horse Alamo Rock Island, Empire engine is a fairly common engine with lots of stuff showing up on eBay and this is the case right now. It looks like an original Alamo cart too and that's a big plus!Īlamo was pretty good about having actual part numbers cast into most of the parts so consider placing your broken parts together and recording the part number(s) prior to brazing, etc which may obscure the numbers, permanently. Nice engine, other than maybe the colors.
#Rock island empire alamo engine parts manuals
Looking for manuals hoping they might have some of the parts named. Sorry if my engine part terminology is wrong, probably confusing the issue. Once I get the key out the flywheel SHOULD slide off. I assume the flywheel has a tapered gib key? Best way to take off the flywheel? The gib key is driven into the flywheel almost to the shoulder so I imagine the flywheel will have to be driven in a bit until I can get a pry bar between it and the flywheel hub to pry it out. I'll have to take off the flywheel to get that off. It's welded off some so the weight doesn't sit straight and doesn't fit in the governor cone groove right. I also see the grey collar(proper terminology?) that the governor weights bolt onto on the inside of the flywheel has had one of the ears broken off and brazed back on. The arm and governor dog is at the end of the orange pointer. Unfortunately I forgot to look just before they got to it to sell. That was one of the reasons I went back later to look at it. I was hoping that no one would just give it a spin backwards knowing it would cause problems. I knew this wasn't right and that something was out of adjustment. So I rolled it back and the "dog" would run into the end of the governor arm and stop the flywheel.

I noticed that as I rolled it over the governor arm that rides on the cone would hit the governor weight "dog" that runs in the coned collar groove. When I looked at it at the sale, I rotated the flywheels a bit to make sure it wasn't frozen up. The guy that would do is wasn't there so I'm going to talk to him about it tomorrow. I took off the governor assembly(?) today and took it to a machine shop to see about brazing.
